England to France Ferry travel

The purpose of first multi- cross channel ferry route which was created in between U.K and France was to maintain the links between the trains on the English side and France. The total time which ferry takes to cross France varies from 70 minutes to 8 hours. This time taken mostly depends upon the route. There are two most famous routes. First one is Dover Calais and second is Dover Dunkerque.

The traditional cross channel traveler usually arrives at the port by first horse drawn coach and then with steam train. This traveler has always been a foot passenger. Captain Townsend bought an old minesweeper because of the increasing popularity of motoring. This was done to cater a new market for those people who wanted to take their car with them while going for a ferry travel. In the early times cars were loaded by crane on Dover ferry. The number of cars that were loaded in the first year was 6000 which then rose to 31,000 in 1939. After that services were interrupted because of the Second World War. After the war was over new terminals that are called as “drive on” were built in Dover and Calais.

Ferry travel is considered to be the best option because it is easy to manage both expense and time. That is why most of the travelers like it because at the same time they can have unlimited fun and entertainment. Norfolkline ferry is well known as super fast ferry to France.

It becomes particularly helpful in poor weather conditions when the landmarks become invisible. GPS devices are also worth having. 2. Map: A map tells a hiker where he is and how far he needs to go.
